Summary of Mentor Survey
Of the 61 Mentors we received
surveys back from 30 of you (~50%). The results were:
- 90% thought the expectations
and goals of the Mentorship program were well or adequately communicated.
- All respondents thought that
the support from the Regional Mentor coordinators was good or adequate.
- Communication between the
Mentors and Mentee varied widely from once a week to not at all.
- Mentor impact on Mentees’
growth varied widely ranging from a “big role” to “little” or “none”. The main reason for “little” or “none” was that the Mentee wanted little or no assistance.
- Suggested improvement to the
Mentorship program were:
oHaving the
Mentors and Mentees meet up at the annual meeting
oBetter
communication with Assigners so that Mentors and Mentees get games that they work together.
oEmphasizing to
Mentees that the Mentors are an important resource to take advantage of.
oOne suggestion
was to extend a limited Mentorship program to the Mentee’s second year.
